.In 1968, the brewery closed and the property was up for sale once more. The local council once more took great interest in this opportunity to create a tourist attraction in Ducey but the costs of demolishing the Brewery made the project extremely expensive. And so for years, the inhabitants of Ducey grew used to the site of the decaying brewery and the neglected Chateau.

Finally, in 1984, the town bought the chateau. In 1987, the demolition works began on the old brewery. In the ensuing years, a vast range of works have been undertaken: the roof and chimney stacks were renovated; the façade, the windows, the interior walls, beams and floorboards were all renovated according the original design; the frescos and paintings were re-exposed and so on, and so on. Indeed, the work is still ongoing and remains one of the main preoccupations of the town.
